THE ICING ON THE CAKE
Any band worth it’s salt is required to have a sweet guitar player. THE PLATINUMSMITH SONGWRITERS have a guitar player named Andrew Smith. Andrew is responsible for all of the sweet riffs and solos on this the bands first project; “UNIVERSAL LOVE.” Without seeing a photograph of this young cat, who would believe that he recorded these tracks at the ages of 12 and 13. If our imagination is vivid enough, perhaps we can taste how sweet Andrew’s chops will be when he is completely ripened.
As a student in the Campbell High School’s prestigious International Baccalaureate Program; Andrew utilized his guitar skills in the school’s Jazz Band. Andrew also played violin in the Campbell High School orchestra. This is what Andrew’s father had to say about him; “ It’s almost scary, the things Andrew is able to do, and the ease in which he is able to do them. He is flawless while performing and in the studio. It is not unusual for him to lay down a hot track in one take. I believe he has ice water in his veins. He is extremely cerebral, not an easy read.” An exceptional student; Andrew graduated from Campbell’s IB program with Honors in May 2017 and was recently accepted into the University of Georgia.
Andrew describes himself as a Blues and Rock guitarist. He believes that he brings an interesting and unique flavor to the band. HIs musical influences are B. B. KING, Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, The Black Keys, and Chuck Berry. Andrew is an avid fan of Gretsch guitars, and he utilizes their fabled tone and playability to craft his own unique and compelling sound on stage. He can currently be seen playing a Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins and a Limited Edition Gretsch 6134 Penguin.
